Choose a global appearance from Nightshift’s Safari toolbar menu, then make exceptions for individual sites when you need them.
Always Light
Leave websites exactly as they are. Nightshift steps out of the way without trying to override a site’s own appearance.
Always Dark
Apply Nightshift to ordinary websites throughout the day, with media corrected so photos, video, and illustrations keep their natural colors.
Follow your Mac
Switch automatically as macOS moves between Light and Dark Mode. Open tabs update as soon as the system appearance changes.
One site at a time
Turn Nightshift off for a website from Safari’s toolbar when that site already has a theme you like. Your choice stays saved on your Mac.
Private by design
Nightshift needs Safari’s permission to change the appearance of webpages. It reads the current domain only to remember sites you disable. Modes and exceptions stay in Safari’s local extension storage; Nightshift has no account, analytics, advertising, or Fly Media server connection.

This edition rebuilds the original 2016 Nightshift project as a modern Safari Web Extension with a native SwiftUI companion app. It is released under the MIT License: read the complete source, modify it, and build your own copy without charge. When the Mac App Store edition is available, it will be the way to download Nightshift; GitHub is for viewing or building the source.
