Summary

Trakam has no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. It collects no personal information about you. It does connect to the internet — it has to, to fetch live train data — and this policy explains exactly what those connections involve.

What stays on your device

• Favorites. Trains and stations you favorite are stored locally on your device. They are not synced to us and we never see them.
• Cached schedule data. Amtrak's published schedule and station data is cached on the device so the app works quickly and degrades gracefully on a poor connection. It is excluded from your device backups.
• A small number of app preferences, such as a marker recording which version of the schedule feed has already been downloaded, kept in the app's own iOS preference storage.

Location

Location access is optional and the app works fully without it. If you grant it, your position is used for one purpose: drawing you on the map alongside nearby trains and stations, on your device, as you look at it.

Your location is never stored, never transmitted to us, and never sent to Amtrak or any third party. You can grant or revoke it at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Trakam.

Network connections the app makes

Trakam sends us no information about you. It contacts three parties in the ordinary course of working, one of which is us:

• Fly Media (us). When it starts, the app downloads one small configuration file from this website. The file tells the app how to read Amtrak's live feed, so that if Amtrak changes something upstream we can repair the app for everyone by editing a file rather than shipping an update. It is a fixed, public file — identical for every user, containing nothing about you — and the request carries no account, identifier, favorites, search terms, or location. As with any web request, our hosting provider processes standard request metadata such as your IP address transiently in order to serve and secure the file, exactly as described under "This website" below. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and the app works normally if the request fails.
• Amtrak. The app downloads Amtrak's public live-map feed and static schedule feed. These are ordinary web requests, so Amtrak's systems can see the request metadata any web server sees, including your IP address. Nothing about you, your favorites, or your location is included in those requests.
• Apple. The map is drawn with Apple's MapKit, which fetches map tiles from Apple. That traffic is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

What we do not collect

• No account, login, or personal identifiers
• No analytics, crash reporting, or advertising identifiers
• No location history, travel history, or record of what you searched for
• No tracking across apps or websites, and no data shared with data brokers

Because the app sends us no information about you, there is no data of yours for us to sell, share, retain, or disclose, and no data set on which to exercise access or deletion rights. Deleting the app removes your favorites and caches from your device.

Children's privacy

Trakam is a general-purpose travel utility. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

About the data Trakam displays

Train positions, schedules, and station data come from Amtrak's own public live-map and static schedule feeds. Data can be delayed, incomplete, or temporarily unavailable, and this app has no relationship with Amtrak beyond reading that public data. Trakam is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amtrak or the National Railroad Passenger Corporation.

This website

This site is a static set of pages. It sets no cookies, runs no third-party trackers, and asks for no personal information. Our hosting provider processes standard request metadata, such as IP address, transiently in order to serve and secure the pages.

Changes

We may update this policy when the product changes. The "Last updated" date above will change when we do, and this page remains the authoritative version linked from the App Store listing.
