Summary

AppleTree is a local disk space analyzer. It does not create accounts, does not collect personal data for analytics or advertising, and does not send your files or scan results over the network. It has no network functionality at all.

What the app does on your Mac

• Scans folders or volumes you choose, via the Open dialog, the toolbar, or drag-and-drop
• Builds an in-memory tree of file and folder sizes for display in the Tree View, Extension Summary, and Treemap
• Optionally moves items you delete to the system Trash
• May watch a scanned folder for external changes — files deleted or moved by Finder or other apps — while the scan result is open
• Stores a small number of preferences in standard macOS UserDefaults: theme, confirm-before-delete, and the Full Disk Access prompt preference

Scan results are not saved to disk by the app and are discarded when you close the window or begin a new scan.

What we do not collect

• No account, login, or personal identifiers
• No analytics, crash reporting, or advertising identifiers
• No upload of file contents, file names, paths, or scan results to Fly Media LLC or any third party
• No tracking across apps or websites

Because the app transmits nothing, there is no data for us to sell, share, retain, or disclose — and no data set on which to exercise access or deletion rights. Preferences and scan results stay on your Mac and are under your control.

Permissions and system access

AppleTree runs in the macOS App Sandbox. Its access to your files is limited to:

• Folders you explicitly select, through security-scoped access
• Certain entitlement-covered locations — read access to Downloads, Pictures, Music, and Movies, and a Photos Library entitlement used solely so a scan can traverse the photo library bundle and total its size. No photo content is read, and no PhotoKit data is accessed.

Some folders, especially under ~/Library, are protected by macOS privacy controls. If a scan skips those folders, AppleTree may suggest enabling Full Disk Access in System Settings. Granting it is optional; the app works without it for any folder you can already open, and you may revoke it at any time.

This website

This site is a static set of pages. It sets no cookies, runs no third-party trackers, and asks for no personal information. Our hosting provider processes standard request metadata, such as IP address, transiently in order to serve and secure the pages.

Children's privacy

AppleTree is a general-purpose utility. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

We may update this policy when the product changes. The "Last updated" date above will change when we do, and this page remains the authoritative version linked from the App Store listing.
